Lares Trek Permits & Availability: Booking Rules

Unlike the Classic Inca Trail, the Lares Trek does not require strict government-regulated permits for the trail itself. However, Machu Picchu entry tickets and train reservations are highly restricted and must be booked in advance.

Booking Guidelines

To secure your preferred entry times for the Machu Picchu citadel and return train services, we recommend booking at least 3 to 4 months in advance, especially during the high dry season (May to September).

Do I need my passport to book the tour?

Yes, a valid physical passport matching your booking details is required to purchase Machu Picchu entrance tickets and train passes.

Are the tickets refundable or transferable?

No, all permits, train tickets, and entrance passes are non-refundable and non-transferable as they are registered under your passport number.
